 Hedging
The terming "hedging" refers to a financial trade to protect a transaction against such risks as exchange rate fluctuations or changes in the prices of raw materials. The person or company making the hedge (also called the "hedger) undertakes an additional transaction for this purpose that is coupled to the original transaction. This usually has the form of a futures contract.
